Argos Perspective on ELIA Together 2016

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending ELIA Together 2016 conference, the first one of its kind where LSPs, freelance translators and software providers had a chance to meet, share ideas and discuss our industry topics.

This year’s Together took place in the World Trade Centre Barcelona, right by the sea shore, granting participants with both tremendous view and easy access. The conference’s schedule was packed with discussion panels, sessions and networking activities. As Argos representative my main goal was to meet with as many people as possible from various parts of the industry and the world and I was very happy to find out that this event enabled me to do exactly that.

Since my main responsibility at our company is taking care of relations with our language partners, I was very interested in hearing talks in the Relationships track. It was great to get to know opinions from both perspectives – translators and agencies. Working inside a company doesn’t always give us a chance to see our work in the same way as our independent linguists do, therefore I especially appreciated all the suggestions for LSPs that were provided by the speakers. I also had a chance to participate in other panels such as the Growth and Technologies panel and was positively surprised with the high level of involvement during all sessions.

I would like to thank everyone who found some time to meet with me during the conference. Special thanks should go to the organizing committee for providing with such a great opportunity for networking. I hope that Together 2017 will be a success too!
